Renovations Trends in 2021

Have you ever wondered what others are thinking when it comes to changes in your home? Are you crazy with what you are thinking about doing this year? Well here is some help in looking at what others are thinking about when it comes to Renovations in 2021. 2020 had many of us spending a lot more time at home.  Which has many people thinking about doing some Renovations in 2021.  Here are some of the top renovations people are talking about as we head into a new year.

HOME OFFICE

The home office has become a top priority when it comes to renovations in 2021.  What many thought would just be a blip on the radar during this global pandemic has the potential of becoming an essential part of many homes in the future.   A study done by S&P Global Market Intelligence found “that 67% of enterprises will keep work from home policies in place.”  Which means the card table in the basement or messy kitchen table needs to be rethought.

Another thought about home offices this year are tax credits.  Before 2021 not many people thought about how setting up a home office could benefit their taxes.  There are a lot of folks looking into setting up a designated space for their office in order to save a little money when it comes to the IRS.

OUTDOOR SPACE

Because our walls and furniture could only take so much abuse during the quarantine and guests may not feel comfortable inside these days, there has been a rise in creating new outdoor spaces in 2021.  The truth is this is one of the most low cost upgrades you make to add value to your home, a comfortable place to entertain, and place to relieve stress from the chaos of these days.

Renovations to create outdoor space might be as simple as buying some Adirondack chairs, building a fire pit and stringing some outdoor lights, or it can be as expensive as building a screen porch or new patio with an outdoor kitchen.  No matter what you do to renovate your outdoor space, you will be glad you did to create another environment to gather and play.

KITCHEN

The kitchen has always been seen as the heart of the home and that became even more clear during 2020.  You might have jumped on the sourdough bread train or you just found a new passion of cooking while you were cooped up inside. Many people realized last year just how important their kitchens are.  In 2021 many people want to make their kitchens bigger and brighter with their new found love of the kitchen.

A kitchen renovation in 2021 can be one of the best investments you make to add value of your home, but it can also be one of the most expensive.  Be prepared to invest a lot of resources when it comes to renovating your kitchen.  Make sure to get multiple quotes when it comes to contractors, cabinets and appliances.  These days all three can be hard to find because so many people are planning renovations in 2021.

In  February we are planning to do some deep dives into each one of the popular 2021 Renovation Trends to help you plan to make your design dreams into reality.
